Step 5: Attaching the Seat Slats Evenly space the seat slats across the top of the seat frame. Use wood glue and screws to attach them to the seat supports. A consistent gap between the slats will improve the chair's aesthetics. Consider using a spacer block to ensure uniform spacing.
Step 6: Sanding and Finishing Once the glue is completely dry, thoroughly sand the entire chair with 80 grit sandpaper to remove any rough edges and imperfections. Then, use 120 grit and finally 220 grit to smooth the surface. Wipe away the sanding dust. Now you can apply your choice of stain, paint, or sealant to protect the wood and enhance its appearance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and drying times.
